I started Vitamins on day 10 post-op, and began Calcium and B-12 day 14. I'm not taking Iron as I am post-menopausal and will wait to see what the 3 month labs say.

Well I take GNC solotron chewable Mulitviamins they have 100% Iron, B-6 and B-12. I will be getting chewable calicum 2 weeks out of surgery. Tiffkins has been taking these Vitamins and she has had really good blood work when she had to get her levels checked.. good luck

I was told to only take a chewable multivitamin complete for the first month. After the one month I would be started on Calcium, b-12, and Iron. Is this the norm for anyone else? It seems as if other post op patients start on all their Vitamins right after surgery. I'm confused!

Same here

I too only took Multivitamins until week 4, and B12. I started Calcium at week 4 & Iron at week 6.

I started multi, B12, Iron a couple weeks before surgery...as soon as I has surgery I started Pepcid Complete (actually Pepcid AC because Complete has been recalled) and then two weeks later I switched from Pepcid to Calcium.< /p>

My nutritionist told me to start 2 weeks post-op - Resource optisource chewable Vitamins 4 a day (spread out)

From 1 week to 3 months post-op - 1200-15-- mg of chewable or liquid calcium citrate

**If I choose to take my own chewable or liquid multivitamins, I should be getting 200% of daily min. of Zinc, Magnesium & Vitamin B.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
