Sleeved on Jan 17th

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new here and just had my sleeve done on Jan 17th. I had a few issues so had to stay in the hospital for 3 nights. I am doing better but my tummy is still swollen. I have not gotten on the scale yet because I don't think I have lost anything yet. But I am very glad I had this done and know I will have a good outcome. I have fought my weight problem my whole life and I am hoping I have found the solution. I know this is a whole new why of life and I am ready for it.

Keep us updated. I go in on the 27th, but I only have to stay one night (as long as everything is good). I worry about gas in the belly. A few years ago I had surgery and the gas from it got under my shoulder. Now that was more painful than the surgery.

I am glad to hear you are ok. Could you tell us about the issues you had?

Thanks

Congrats on your surgery, Barb!! I hope all is going well - tomorrow is one week!!!

I was fortunate not to have too much gas pain - guess that first walk the day of the surgery was the key. In fact, I didn't have much pain, just some discomfort. I wish you the same experience. Take care! Stay positive!

The issues I had were nausea. And I was not able to get rid of the gas. My tummy is still pretty swollen. I feel much better will be glad when Tues gets here to have my staples taken out. I was also up walking the first day after surgery. But it may be my age also as I am 58 and I think that could be why I was a little slower to feeling better. But I my now on my way to a new me. Thank you all and this site is a great place to ask questions and get lots of info.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?
