Un-Scientific Poll for VSG's 1+ years

Recommended Posts

I keep reading that there aren't any long-term studies on the success, complication rate, weight loss maintenance etc. of the VSG procedure. When I first got my LapBand in 2003, there were some reports and studies, mainly from overseas, because the band had only recently received FDA approval in the US. After the band gained in popularity, by 2006-07, we started seeing on Lap Band Talk an increase in reports about the number of slips, erosions, etc. (To that point, as is often the case, more successful bandsters or those with few or no complications tended to post less.)

It looks like some of the earliest VSG patients posting here were 2008? If you're still visiting the site, it would be fantastic if you could check in for those of us considering the procedure. 2009 and 2010 feedback would be great too. I'm just trying to get a sense of expectations two-three years out -- and beyond, if possible.

Success?

Complications?

What you wish you know now that you didn't know then (when you first had procedure).

Thank you so much. Your experience and expertise, as you know, is invaluable.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
