mushy, mush, mush

Recommended Posts

hi all, I am to sore to cook alot. My mom is willing to cook for my mush stage. The thing is I want to keep it simple, and a bit light. I went looking for advice on the mushy stage but came up with recipes only. Do any of you have some suggestions that I can buy premade. Or th does't have a lot of prep work. Othe than your basic mashed potatoes, Soup and pudding. Thanks all.

Premade you can blend anything I guess. I have had the most fun blending the chunky Soups. They come out about mashed potato consistancy. Clam chowder is great, and so is the mexican chicken Soup. Other threads recommend the bacon and bean soup.

Don't forget about refried Beans, great right out of the can with some cheese on it. The only other thing that I can think of is grits, and baby rice Cereal. Keep your servings at 1/2 cup or under, my doctor says to keep it at 1/4 cup.

Sometimes I can eat the whole can of soup, but most of the time I half it.

I admit that I am getting a little bored with the mushy phase, but I have 2 more weeks of it, so better get used to it.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
