Dreading the Scale

I am dreading buying a scale today. I hate them with a passion. If you asked me how much I weighed right now, I could not tell you. When I was pregnant, I made my doctor write on the outside of my file, DO NOT TELL WEIGHT! From visit to visit they would say you gained X punds, but NEVER the weight. When I had my daughter, it moved into you loss X pounds. I never want to know the number, because I don't want to spiral into depression. When I watch the Biggest Loser and I see someone who weigh 260, I think I don't look like that so I know I don't weigh 260. My just hate the numbers. So I will suck it up an buy a scale today......

doesn't mean I will use it.

Many people let themselves get pushed around by the numbers... including me, but after all, they are just numbers and can simply mean something scientific to us... it doesn't have to be personal. You are not a better or worse person depending on the number. You are not a success or failure dependent on a number! Just stick to the plan your Dr. gives you and use the scale to show you what direction you are heading in...don't weigh too often or the direction will not be as clear or accurate in the long run.

After a day of depression, I have told myself this is the LAST time I fall victim to a number.... on a scale.

277.4......... No where to go but down from here.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
