Starting 2 week liquid diet tomorrow

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled for my vsg surgery on Monday January 17 so I have to start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow. For the next 2 weeks I will be living on 3-4 Protein Shakes, sugarfree drinks, plain eggs and low fat cheese per day. I am so nervous and scared that I won't be able to do it. Any suggestions and tips to help me make through these next 2 weeks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jen

Just go day by day. Go on the forum for support or take a walk when things get tough. It is 110 % worth it to get your sleeve. I can't beleive the difference my sleeve has made in my life already. I finally feel like I am control of food. food does not have power over me anymore. You can do it!!!

My pre surgery diet was not total liquid although it was 800-900 calories per day. I could have the meals provided by the surgeons office and protien drinks. (one meal per day and the rest protien shakes and other snacks). I didn't think I could do it either, but for the first time in my life I was determined to do it. I did not have one crumb of any food that was not on the program. Mind you, I am a diet cheater, and can always find a way to cheat. I was so proud of myself that I did this without cheating, and it made me hopeful that I can stay on the post of program and lose the weight. Good Luck

I started my liquid diet on the 27th and have now finished my 8th day. The first day was a bit difficult, but the second day I realized that if I had about 10 grams of Protein every two hours my hunger was controled much better. By the third day I was fine and no longer worried. I can honestly say I have not had any caffine, carbonation or food for the past 8 days.

Like my son always say to me "Keep your eye on the prize". Stay focused and you will do great!

I am very new to the sleeve so it is unfair to say right now. I don't regret anything so far, though. I feel amazing (except for a little soreness from the surgery which is normal a week out). I am not obsessing over food anymore, which is so nice. I will say that I do LOVe the sleeve over the lapband!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
