Scale is FINALLY moving. 7 wks today. 31 lbs down :-)

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to post really quickly. I'm 7 weeks from surgery today and the scale has finally decided to move in my favor. I've been reading everyone's posts regarding stalls and I realize Water was my main problem. Not enough of it that is. Once I started drinking water and working out the scale has been moving.

So it's been 7 weeks and I'm down 31 pounds. I'm happy with that and am eager to keep this ball rolling. Prior to surgery I lost 21lbs so that's 52 total. :-)

Sounds like a WIN to me!!

I am only 8 days out so it is good to hear these tips. I can barely get my 48 oz of liquid in rt now but I'm trying.

Thanks for sharing - that gives me hope. I am almost 4 weeks post-op and my scale hasn't moved in two weeks. I am so frustrated. I thought I was drinking enough Water but maybe not. Plus I think I need to start walking more. My doctor doesn't want me going to the gym until the first part of January so I really haven't been getting much exercise. Thanks for the inspiration.

I was sleeved on the 10th of November and I have been exercising at the gym for two weeks now and feel great. I do weight and strength training more then walking right now because the walking does exert me quicker. But my personal trainer told me that the strengthening will prepare me for the walking. My trainer is also a metabolic technician with a graduate degree.

Ask your doctor if you can do light strengthening training to build endurance for when he okays you for walking more.

hey,

congratulations on a job well done... stalls are a complete pain in the ass ... I think you are spot on with the Water advice...I am in a stall and am struggling to get my water in!! Keep up the good work x

Thanks everyone. And for those stalling, don't feel bad or alone. I was there FOREVER and I felt like I was doing everything right . . . except for Water. No biggie. (at least I though) but it made a world of a difference. I have to literally put in effort to get the water down in the beginning. But it's getting easier now. Just give it time and trust that the scale will move soon. I still feel like a slow "looser" but know it's turning around now. :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
