5'3" My goal seems to change daily. My dream weight would be 135, but I think its going to take some major plastics to get there, so I'll be happy at 145. 3 more lbs & I will be in 0nderland, but because I'm so short I'm still a size 18.

5'9" - My goal is 200 (or 199 to only say that I am in the hundreds!), which should put me at a size 12 or so. But I really want the body lift or Tummy Tuck AND a breast reduction, which would lower my overall weight.

Congrats on your progress Sheryl.

But remember that even the most extreme reconstructive surgeries like Abdominoplasties (Tummy Tucks) and Mastoplexy (Breast Reduction) mean a loss of volume - but not necessarily weight.

Even those superobese patients who lose more than 200# to 250# and later have 10#-15# of excess skin removed - might only see a loss of a pound or two on the scale. Both surgeries can reflect a loss of inches, but often no loss of actual weight.

As we know, fat and skin weigh much less than muscle and bone - so when we remove skin/flab in the O.R., it doesn't always mean we lose much weight. (That's why Tummy Tucks & Breast Reductions are NOT classified as weight loss surgeries). Often patients see the scale go up with post-surgical Fluid retention and circulatory swelling - but eventually it subsides. Sometimes post- plastic surgery weight loss is minimal, due to reduced appetite and activity after surgery, rather than because of the weight lost by removing skin.

I'm 5'8" and I'd LOVE to be 185 pounds. Once I'm at 185 pounds I think I'll go for 160 pounds. I was 160 in parts of high school and looked good, but I've found that what looked good going UP doesn't look as good going DOWN. For some reason I thought I'd lose all my fat in my stomach first and be perfectly shaped, but I'm just a smaller size of the same shape I was 75 pounds ago!

I am 5'4" and my doctor's goal for me was 140 -- I had plastics at 162 and HE said (love that man...) that I shouldn't lose more weight - because after my tt & BL I would be in proportion. I have wide shoulders, so my hips match them, and I would have an hourglass shape with a flat belly (woohoo!!). He said too many people use a number or clothes size as a goal, when really everyone's body looks different at the same weight number. So use your mirror and your clothes as a judge -- he said aim for proportion. Of course I then gained a ton of weight and need to get back to that proportion!!!

5'7 1'2"

Would love to be 140 again but I think that's just too far out there. 155 or 160 would be wonderful. Just be in onderland again would be wonderful.

Good luck everyone,

Sherri

My doctor explained the inch loss. If you are still fat, the fat actually changes the shape of our spine. It is physically impossible to straighten as much as we used to. I used to be 5ft6. I shrunk 2 freakin inches!! I am hoping that when I get back to my original weight I will be able to stand as tall as I did before.

It appears I may be the shortest or tied for shortest. I am 4'11". I've always wished I could be 5'4" plus. In high school I weighed 103. I would be very happy to be in the 130's as I know I will never be in the low 100's again. To be honest I wouldn't want to. It's unrealistic. I would be totally satisfied to be in the 130's.

Dawn...

I'm so happy to see someone on here shorter than I am, even if it is only by 1/2 inch. In high school, I weighed less than 100 pounds. In fact, I have weighed that since - even after 4 kids. It was all the years of up and down weight (and I mean rapid, huge ups and downs) that finally got to me. I just couldn't face another year of dieting, only to see my weight begin to climb back up as soon as I stopped counting every mouthful.

I weigh less than 130 now (just barely). If I don't lose any more, that's okay. At my age, and with no hope of PS in sight anytime soon, I'm just happy I can cross my legs and tie my shoes.

Hi Carlene,

My weight gain came during the pregnancy of my first child. I gained 50+ with my first, 30 with my second and 20 with my third. In between the pregnancies I gained and lost. Unfortunately, I gained more than I lost. I think being under 130 is fantastic. I would be thrilled to be there. It is people like you who give those of us just starting the journey hope that we can succeed. As far as PS, if I am financially able to get a TT, breast lift down the road than I will. These are the 2 things I definitely think I will need to be comfortable with myself. I know I will never had that pre-pregnancy body. I can live with that. I will be happy just to feel better and fit into my clothes. My NSV is to be able to tuck my shirt into my pants without my stomach hanging out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
