I have a date!

Recommended Posts

I went for my visit with the surgeon today. I'm doing well, and she was able to give me a date. July 24. I have my psych eval this Friday, and then need to get a couple other things in order, but I"m scheduled.

I do have a question... if anyone can help me out here. The dr. said I would be out of work approx. 1 week for my desk job.

I'm also a massage therapist, trying to begin my business, and the dr. said I would have to be out for about a month with that. My question is, (and yes, I'll have to ask her again when I'm closer to surgery) is I don't think massage exerts any more energy than a moderate work out. I twist and bend a bit, but nothing extereme. How long after surgery were you able to resume any physical activity?

Thanks,

Congrats robinem!!! :grouphug: I am 3 weeks out of surgery and went back to a part time receptionest job after 2 days. I wouldn't have wanted to go back to anything more than that. I am a teachers assistant for 5th and 6 grades and was glad I didn't have to go back to that for a while. I'm working summer school this week and have felt fine but I tried to throw a basketball a few times and it pulled at my incisions and made me sore. I would think that massaging someone would add some pressure to your stomach. Since most Dr. don't want you to eat solid food for a few weeks so not to disturb the band, I would think that exercise , or massage would be the same thing. My Dr. never gave me any time constraints on exercise tho. except 10 days before I could go in Water, like swimming or bathing. I guess you could try it out on a friend if you feel like you are ready for it and then maybe call the Dr. and re-talk it over. Hope that helps some. I'm sure you will hear from others with advise. Good luck!

Carol

Congrats, another July Bandster. I'm Sherri, I'm getting banded July 10, in Monterrey Mexico. I don't now yet but I would say listen to your doctor. You don't wont to twist real fast and tear a stitch and your port move or something.

Just mho though.

Good luck and will be thinking of you.

Sherri

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
