One week till surgery and I am sick!!!

Recommended Posts

I have my surgery 1 week from today and have a horrible cold. My hubby is sick too. I am hoping that I get over this quickly so my surgery doesn't get postponed. It is a virus so antibiotics will not help. Trying to get lots of sleep and fluids. Any other home remondies? I think I would try just about anything to get over this so I can have my sleeve!!

Thanks for letting me whine. Lol

Oh man, that is a bummer! My surgery is the same day as yours and I've been worried about getting sick too. Just keep doing what you're doing, and some people swear by zantac for shortening the duration of a cold, though I've never tried it. Hope it passes quickly!

Emergen-C! You can buy it at Walmart or any grocery store. It is a Vitamin supplement with lots of Vitamin C that you put in Water and drink. It makes you feel so much better! I am a teacher, so I take it anytime I feel a cold coming on. Hope you feel better soon! Get lots of rest~

I am in the same situation. Last week I got a head cold. Get plenty of sleep. I even took a 30 minute nap during my work lunch hour (luckliy I work from home). Also I read to run your shower to get a room full of steam and to sit in the room. The steam kills the bacteria in the nose. And of course, I kept drinking orange juice to increase my Vitamin C. Now I am on the liquid diet so I am looking for my Vitamin C in V8 and V8 Splash Juice. I am getting sleeved on Dec. 1st.

I am starting to get a cold...sore throat....My surgery isnt till January 18th, but It still worries me. I am getting on a 13 hour plane ride in a week and REALLY don't want to be coughing and miserable... perhaps I'll try the Zicam..... I have been making this jelly concoction made with a sugar free metamuciel mixed into the emergenC. I mix it, then let it sit for about 10 minutes before I eat it with a spoon. Its kind of yummy and full of Fiber and C. Trying to kill two birds with one stone.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
