2 month stall

Recommended Posts

Hey Chantae -- I know how you feel -- I was sleeved just a day after you -- I have been struggling as of late and really started feeling down about myself and where I was and what I was doing. BUT! I watched some YouTube videos from veterans of WLS and really was inspired -- I realized that I didn't go do this surgery to be on a "diet" like I had in the past, I went into the surgery to change my life. And that included changing the process -- meaning, that if I did what I was supposed to do that day (at least in my book -- meaning: eat what I was supposed to eat, drink my 64 oz., exercise) then I was working the process of changing my life -- the weight loss WILL come if we work the process. It can't help but come.

AND there will be days/weeks when we don't lose anything or God forbid, we gain. Ok, but if we're working the process to the best of our abililty, then good stuff will happen.

I got so stuck on that stupid number on the scale I was beside myself -- I was thinking, there I go again, not losing weight after all I've been through. But you know what? The scale is a tool just like our sleeves are a tool -- we can't focus on the tool and make that the goal -- our goal should be the process.

I really do sympathize -- I know EXACTLY how you're feeling -- but please don't allow yourself to be captive to a scale -- you know that you're changing your life and that sometimes big changes require little steps :) I hope that helps!! Take care and big hugs!

There is just no way to sugarcoat it (pardon the pun)... STALLS SUCK. But they happen, they are normal and EVERYONE goes through them. Do not let negative thoughts or negative self-talk come into your world. You will continue to lose, stay the course, dig in your heels and you will eventually break the stall. (I'm in one right now, and only 13 days post-op...lol!)

Hang in there!

Ok so far I have lost 30 pounds since my surgery on Sept 7 but I have gone back to work and the scale has not moved since. UGH

Hi, I don't post often anymore here, but when it seems someone needs some encouragement, I'm here. . . I understand your UGH!!! I had a 3 1/2 month stall and then bam it just fell off. . . what i do is put the scale away and carry on doing what you do everyday without stressing about the weight. . you'd be amazed if you keep busy and keep your Protein and Water up how much you'll lose after a while. . . your body needs time to catch up to what has happened to it. . .so just relax, put away the scale (as hard as it seems) and after about 2 weeks, weigh yourself and see whats happened. . . good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
