Scheduled for VSG Nov 15th

Recommended Posts

I am happy to find this site and I am very nervous. As you know this is a big step but very necessary. I see no other way out of this body. My mind thinks thin, but my body is not. I am a stress(emmotional eater) and I know I will miss eating. I think I am mostly scared about that change. I am also excited at the same time as know this is for the best. I am going to Dr. Joya clinic in Puerto Verta as my insurance will not cover the VSG or anyother type of surgery. I hope to get any advice from you all relating to this subject. Thanks for listening.

Laura

Congrats on the surgery date!! I will be right behind you on Dec 1st. It is very exciting, but scary at the same time. I think we have all failed so many other times that is only natural to worry about that now. I think I will feel better once I go over the post op diet and I am better prepared for planning meals after the surgery. Good luck and keep us posted.

I have the same problem with food!

We need to say goodbye to our comforting food.

But we can still eat a LITTLE of everything. And we need to be comforted in other ways - find new coping strategies.

I am trying to TALK with my friends, meditate, sleep and get massages, instead of eating - have fun.

It will be the only way pout for me, I have tried everything - and I am so much looking forward to this operation. I have a love-hate-relationship. And this will help me BIG TIME

Change is sometimes scary - but I am so sure, it will be better. And when we get used to it, then it feels normal.

Congratulations! I will be operated in November. YaY

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
