What will life be like?

I was lap band converted to sleeve on 10/14. I have lost about 22lbs since surgery. I started years ago with the lapband at 312, lost a total of 137lbs, then gained 33 lbs when my band slipped. all and all, I am only 7lbs away from my lowest weight with the band and 42lbs away from my overall goal...All this math out of the way now....I am never hungry - but I miss delicious food. I am in the puree stage and have a bout a tablespoon of hummus and another of cottage cheese and thats a meal - i dont eat until im full - i just eat until its done and I feel satisfied. What I need to know is - what will I be eating in 4 months portion wise? I know it doesn't last forever eating like Kate Moss - with the band it got to the point where I could eat a small reasonable size meals and feel like a normal person who people didnt comment on how little I ate- when will that happen again?

Thank you - Im loving the losing - but this part is hard....

Hi there!

I want to reassure you that you will feel normal soon. I am nearly a year out and today for lunch I had 2 scallops, a few bites of cole slaw and a few thin onion rings. I am stuffed, but also SATISFIED because of the amount and taste of the food. I promise that does get better. I still can't eat very much, especially compared to before surgery. And I still feel frustrated sometimes that I can't stuff myself. But the rewards! I am wearing a size 4, down from an 18! So worth it! Remember that you are still swollen, so that will limit your quanities, too.

I wouldn't give up my sleeve for $1 million!

Good luck on your journey!

René :D

Thanks - right now I feel like a wierdo and not even close to my former life. I was very used to eating small amounts - I love to do out to dinner, enjoy a cocktail or two and have a good time. Cant go out to dinner and order a bowl of baby food! And how I would love a glass of wine - just to feel like my old self again (I do not have a drinking problem)- I just used to enjoy a nice glass of wine after a bath with candles lit and my lifetime movie on to relax after a long week. I also work in entertainment where so much about is is socializing and events. I will however enjoy being super hot!

You will soon be able to enjoy that class of wine or a cocktail. Just give yourself time to heal and adjust to your new stomach

As for eating out, do you have someone to share with? My husband and I often share a meal. He by no means has a weight problem, but portions today are so big, it helps him keep track of his intake too. Plus, everytime we share a meal, we mentally deduct the cost of the 2nd meal I would have ordered from the surgery bill. Sorta pays for itself in a few years. (Now, we won't mention all the clothes I have been buying - that doesn't help the dollar figure go in the right direction! ;))

Use this time to focus on the new HOT you!

Sweetie, eating like Kate Moss IS eating like a normal person I think!! It's wonderful, embrace it and enjoy the journey. I love eating less. The weirdest part is just eating ONE piece of my husband's home made pizza, it is soooo good. Use to, we'd split a pizza, now we have almost half left over!! I now pick the smallest piece so I know I'll have room to eat the wonderful whole wheat crust!!! I hope that I always feel this way, it is great being in control and not feeling the hunger I use to feel. I know my limits 98% of the time...pasta is a little iffy, so I am overly cautious with it! I enjoy every bite and don't mind stopping, THIS is my new normal!!! You just have to wrap your mind around it and secretly smile when someone says something about how little you ate....I'll say "We ate a late.....breakfast, lunch or whatever"

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
