O MY GOPSH!!! EKG PROBLEMS!!! PLEASE HELP!!

Recommended Posts

So I went to my regular Dr for a check up before I go to Mexico for surgery and she did a EKG and it came back with one of the line going up side down when it is suposed to be right side up. So she said that I might have heart desease, and that if I get the surgery I might have a heart attach!!

So I have to go to mexico and get a ekg and if it is the same way I am ok if not then I cant have the surgery

WTF!!! So I cant beleive this I have my heart set on this surgery.

Has any one had a problem with there ekg or have any wise words for me I would love to hear them

and I would love some prayers from everyone...

Sorry to hear that! Wouldn't it be more efficient to redo the EKG with another doctor nearby instead of going to Mexico to have it done there and potentially "failing" it again after paying for the trip? There is room for error and I would suggest you ask for a second EKG, maybe from a second person/office. My EKG was done by a nurse and I think something went wrong the first time but he noticed it right as he looked at it, so he did it again right there and it was fine. I hope that yours is just a product of nurse/Dr error and that once redone everything will look good :)

Yes, I am going to ask her next week if I can get a stress test done or a 2nd EKG , ya, unfortunantly I have already paid for the airline tickets and put my $500.00 down on the surgery and I dont think that eather one of them will give refunds, I will be so devastated if I cant get this surgery

I have been wanting this for a long time and I only have 4 weeks left before I go.

Hi, Sorry to hear this. Do you have a previous ekg for comparison? I have a good friend who for years has had an inverted T wave every time she gets an EKG there is always drama until they see she has had this. She has also had a hyst3erectomy which is even more major surgery wise without problems. I too before my sleeve had a "borderline" ekg a partial RBB and inflamed left artrium my previous ekg 3 years ago was normal. I was sleeved two months ago withpout any problem. Hopefully your case will be the same. I agree a stress tests and 2nd ekg are excellent idea.

Nancy

Earlier this year is had a-fib and irregular ekgs. Those are now under control with medication. I was given an ekg and stress test as part of my run up of tests before surgery. My Dr. gives them to everyone. Hopefully it will all go well for you! good luck!

wow--your regular doctor sounds very efficient. NOT! I am 6 days post op from having had gastric plication w/ Dr. Corvala in Tijuana. I went down there knowing (and the Mexican drs also knowing) that I have a heart condition known as mitral valve prolapse. I was approved pending results of the ekg etc. They did a chest xray and determined they needed more info--then they did an EKG, noticed a "left-side blockage" and determined they needed to do a full-on electrocardiogram. They called the cardiologist who apparently was not at the hosp that day because i had to wait and when he came walking in, he was dressed in jeans and a plaid shirt. He did the whatever it is where they run a cold, slippery probe type thing all over your chest and say "breathe" "hold your breath" "exhale" etc etc etc. This went on for at least 30 min. I was sure that they would not do the surgery and that my friend and I would be leaving the hospital shortly. But the cardiologist gave the green light, saying i had a mild heart condition and it should present no problem. Bottom line: The Mexican drs are going to take every precaution to ensure your safety--it is not in their best interests to risk the lives of their patients. Good luck.

P.S. I forgot to add that I am 55 years old and have a history of anemia which the Mexican drs also knew--and I made it! But again, I had gastric plication surgery--not the sleeve. Hope this helps.

Any updates on this, Lisa? I just saw your post.

I have an irregular EKG, but they knew that from some minor surgery I had last year. They sent me for an ultrasound and then just to be careful for a nuclear stress test. The stress test was inconclusive, so they made me go for an angiogram. The angiogram wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, though I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a free afternoon to kill. LOL. If I had had any blockages, they would have done an angioplasty, but I didn't. It wasn't much fun and I spent way more time with the cardiologist than I was expecting to, but I'm glad they did everything and have cleared me for surgery. If you want any more info about anything, feel free to pm me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
