What I'm doing wrong? the scale doesn't move...

Recommended Posts

Hellos guys,

I'm kind of depresive today. :( 15 days post op and I haven't lost any weight in the past 9 days!! First week was amazing, I lost 12 pounds, and the past week I started with the full liquid diet, now I'm in the soft food stage, chew it a lot and I can eat it (meatloaf, deli chicken, vegies and soup).

This really freaking me out, I'm not eating alot, I'm trying to drink as much Proteins I can.

Any ideas on what I can do, or what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help!!

Magui, the weight will come off. It is impossible for it not to with such a deficit. I'm going through this right now too, but I have to keep positive and remember this is going to be something ongoing for a long time. I can't keep expecting to lose a Lb a day. It will slow down to about 3-4 lbs per week eventually and I'm ok with that. Better than the alternative!!

Magui, This happened to me up til day 10 lost 21 pounds, then nothing....nothing...nothing.... for 11 days- then I absolutely made sure I was getting in 60-70 Protein sometimes more (there were some days I was taking in 40 gr protein), and making sure I got my liquid intake 64oz. Then couple days later I started losing again. I would suggest go over all you eat, re-read the nut values on pkgs. Make sure your getting your Protein & Water, and just wait it out, your body is adjusting...

Thank you for the advice. I'll reduce my Proteins between 40-50 gr daily

I'm happy today because finally the scale moves a bit

MAGUI,

I THINK MISUNDERSTOOD ME!

DONT REDUCE YOUR Protein, I WASNT LOSING BECAUSE MY Protein LEVEL WAS 40-50 IT WAS MY MISTAKE WHEN I READ THE LABEL ON MY PROTEIN SUP.

WHEN I INCREASED MY PROTEIN 80+, I STARTED TO LOOSE AGAIN!! IF YOU REDUCE YOUR PROTEIN TO 40-50 YOU WONT LOSE!!

I'm in the same boat. I've lost 20 since my surgery and this week it's been nada. I weigh on Monday's and my dr appointment was today and the scale only showed about a half a pound. I get in 80+ Protein a day, I'm sitll on liquids, I get up to 64 oz of Water a day. I thought maybe it was the Soups I was eating. I was told that my body is used to the weight and because I dropped it so fast my body is adjusting before letting go of more. He told me not to worry about the nutritional value in the soups I am eating because I am eating the healthy request campbell soups and that when I hit soft mushies I will need to worry about my intake at that point. I even asked a friend that had bypass done a long time ago and she said the same thing happened to her about 3 weeks out and that she would drink a little grapefruit juice. Don't know the point of that but I might try it. Good news is the scale isn't going up! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
