I've read some about the pouch test.... where you go back on Clear liquids and graduate to full and mushies just like right after surgery. Well.... if anyone is thinking about it, it works.

I'm 51/2 months out and I can eat fairly good size portions. They are much less than I used to be able to but much more then those 1st weeks after surgery. I can do about 5 oz fish... 4oz chicken... havent tried red meat. I can usually have a small serving of vegetables as well. Mushies... no prob. I can eat a regular person size bowl of oat meal.

anyway.... I had my 1st colonoscopy yesterday... what an ordeal... there were some issues and I ended up having to go 2 days on Clear Liquids instead of one. Today is my first day back on solids and I feel like I did 3 weeks post op. less than half a bowl of oats for Breakfast and could only do about 3 shrimp for lunch.< /p>

Its just like old times!!!!!!

Glad you are doing ok-good to know about the pouch test, I've been tempted to try it to nudge the scale down. I'm 5 mos out and can eat more also, just as you described. I don't seem to want to bake anymore and sweets were my weakness, now I'm happy with a nutter butter cookie :) thank goodness!

well isn't this exactly what i wanted to discuss! I just want to share with everyone that i will have done the carb detox 5 day pouch test on Sunday. . the first 2 days were hell. . . major carb withdrawl! headaches, jitters, etc. . but now, i am back to "normal" I have that tight feeling again, and can't eat more then 4 oz of dense Protein. . . i'm full and happy on 550 - 700 calories again. . . on sunday i am going to weigh and see how much i lost if any. . will let you all know! and like styct says "IT REALLY WORKS" . . . :)

This diet never worked for me with my band. I would get way too crazy hungry and I would fail in a couple days.

However, I know this would work now whenever I needed to do it. With hunger gone (and little hunger in the future) I think I could actually pull it off. Good to know it really does work with the sleeve, thanks!!! :001_smile:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
