I totally feel your pain! My first week or two I itched quite a bit as well. It helped to itch between the incision sites - just kept away from touching the sites themselves. It definitely helped.

OMG! I am 7 weeks out and I still itch occasionally. It was fierce earlier, but better now. I put silvadene cream on the incisions. That helped the pulling/itching feeling.

Apparently when wounds in general are healing they itch, mine did itch like mad,i guess that only means they're healing properly!

yeah! I try to just scratch around it. I'm too scared to remove any steristrip or scratch right on the incision yikes. Around my one big incision, I bruised horribly, I mean so dark purple its almost black. My nurse told me to break open a Vitamin E gelpill and rub it on there. I have heard of that before. I went ahead and got some and am trying it. My stomach has looked like a warzone with all the bruises! I was on 10 days post-op lovenox shots in the belly, so I have little (and some big) bruises all over my lower belly "roll" lol. Plus my incisions, plus the bruising around those. Oh yeah and a big hole where the drain was. Warzone.. I'm telling ya. Did you guys all take pics of your bellies as you were healing? I've been taking pics, though I don't know if I'll ever show anyone. lol...

I got 2 levels of itching going on over here. Both incision sites itch but I also discovered I seem to have some skin allergy to the medical tape the hospital used to AROUND the incision sites is itchy with a slight rash from the tape. They even switched me to the kind of tape for people allergic to the other kind but then before I left they put these Water proof band aids over them so I could shower and those have caused a little itchy rash where the adhesive was stuck to me. ARGH! Haha. They game me this ointment for the scars tho when I put it on it stings a bit....not right away but a little later on. Weird. Is that normal? Haha!

oh yeah I had some redness and rash type thing from certain tape. I bought something called comfort tape.. I think that's it... just in the aisle at the grocery store, and it's like a mesh fabric tape. Much better for me. I'm down to just a small bandage over the hole where my drain was. (eek!) but yeah I couldn't stand that other tape. They gave me nylon and plastic. The plastic worked but gave me irritation. The nylon didn't bother me, but didn't work! lol...

Yeah, I have to use the mesh fabric tape, too. Even the adhesive on a bandaid makes me rashy, with itchy weeping sores. Yep, the incisional itching is from the healing. But even knowing why doesn't make it itch less. Vit E also works, so does aloe, and lanolin. As long as you're not allergic to it. I happened to have silvadene cream on hand and my incision was a little angry looking, so I used it.

My belly looked like a war zone too...blood thinner's injection sites and 5 incisions, and all the sores from the adhesives. No! I didn't take any photos. It was gross! Every now and then my granddaughter wanted to see my owies though. She was fascinated by them so I showed her the progress. I was so happy when the last one finally closed up so I could go swimming.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
