Just had plication surgery and need urgent help with pain

Sure hope she's okay. It's scary to not hear back. I'm having VSG on 12/1 and I'm looking forward to it, but would love to know what happened to JG first! Oh well - will keep her in my prayers.

maybe it was all a hoax, someone just messing with you guys. Maybe she is fine, just wanted attention. Maybe not even her, maybe just a prankster. Who is gonna be in all kinds of serious life threatening pain and chat on a board for advice? At least I hope that is what it is, I would rather think some one was pulling a prank than think someone is really very sick.

Melanieleigh, maybe you're right and it was a hoax. I sure hope so. I had my surgery, and all is well (no weight loss yet after a week, but it will happen). It's amazing what people think is 'funny' to do as a hoax, and I think you might have figured it out. If she really was sick, or even if she had died, someone would have posted that as a follow-up (you'd think so, anyway). So - I am choosing to agree with you that it was a hoax! Hope you're doing well!

Yep, I think that it is a hoax. And I've been worried about this person and scared for myself. I believe someone is doing this type of thing on OH too. They don't like the idea of the Plication! I mean there was a person posting that the plication made her hunger constant AND immediately post-op, she was eating Bagels and pizza WTH!!!

Hey there everyone,

When I read what was happening to jg, her situation and symptoms were eerily similar to what I have just gone through. I don't think someone could make it up.

Hi folks,

I would go into greater detail right now about my experience but as I sit here, I am fighting back major pain in my chest and am in desperate help.

For all those who have had the plication or even if you are on the boards Dr. Watkins, what can I do to help alleviate this servere tightening pain in my chest. I am on day 3 from surgery, my first day home. While I was in the hospital, the pain meds they gave me via IV worked like a charm. When I was experiencing the chest pains, they would give me the pain injection in my IV and it would go away. Now that i am at home, with supradol as prescribed by doctor, it doesn't work! I tried crushing extra strength tylenols as well at doesn't work either. Both actually cause me to be naseaus and throw up the little liquids that I have in my system. I'm not able to sleep at all with this pain and lying flat on my back, sitting up, lying sideways and even piling pillows up and lying face down on them while sitting up doesn't help.

Please if anyone can offer any help please let me know. I don't know if I can endure this pain which is causing me to have cold sweats due to how much it hurts.

My recommendation would be to simply go to the emergency room or call 911. Since I didn't do your procedure, I don't know the details of your surgery but am simply giving general advice. The ER should do a contrast study (drink Water soluble contrast and take x-rays) to make sure there is no perforation or leak. The Water soluble contrast is better than barium simply because it is less irritating to the peritoneal lining than barium if there is a leak. Keep us posted on your progress and I hope you get to feeling better soon. If anyone has urgent questions you can always reach me 24 hours per day through the answering service (513-939-2263).

The main thing is to walk walk walk! The pain you are talking about is gas pain. What I found worked the best was walking, gas-x strips, and a heating pad. If your anything like me once you feel better you won't really remember the pain

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
