Recommended Posts

hey everyone,

I'm new my name is Sarah and I'm 23 years old. I got the gastric sleeve procedure done last Friday and I have been STARVING every day, except the day after surgery. I'm 250 lbs I've lost 16 lbs since surgery but this hunger is killing me.. I have not felt full once. I did start eating yogurt today and I had chicken noodle Soup and baby food (i know it was early..) and still no feeling of fullness. What would happen if i ate real food right now? This is not what i was expecting at all.. i didnt think i was going to be so hungry, it's making this impossible! I'm kind of regretting it.. i just want to eat. if anyone has any advice id really appreciate it! thank you

Hi sayray

don't panic yet. Its pretty normal to be hungry in the begining. I was sooo hungry on liquids. Once you are on solid foods everything will even out and you'll have restriction. When I was on liquids I just felt like my body wasn't getting any nourishment.

That being said.... FOLLOW YOUR DOCS INSTRUCTIONS.... its hard but so worth it int the end to have a good outcome. Once I was cleared for full liquids I pureed stuff so that my body could get what it needed....

The most satisfying thing I ate was

1/2 baked sweet potato

1/4 c. milk

1 scoop chiken flavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein

Blended till liquid.

Hang in there.... its a hard road at first... but you'll be feeling great and satisfied before you know it.

take care

stacey

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
