Despondent over apparent gain, please help

Recommended Posts

I am a big fan of Miralax and Benefiber.

I also added a little bit of fruit back into my diet even during the losing stage. Fruit is healthy and I didn't really care how fast I got to goal. I'd rather have good colon health!

I've ordered some benefiber and have started having tiny amounts of apple with the skin. I'm also drinking a lot of herbal tea to keep things moving. According to my food tracker I'm losing 3 pounds a week. I should be thrilled by that but ...

That's almost 1/2 lb per day! Imagine 1/2 of hamburger! That's a lot per day. Maybe I just have lower expectations for myself, but I'm losing that or a little slower and I'm not dissatisfied at all. That's a healthy pace to lose weight, I think. I'm at the 180 mark but I'm not going to count that as lost until I maintain the loss for several days. Than I'm going to do a happy dance because that's the least I've weighed in at least 15 years, maybe longer!

You know what's bugging me these days? Family members who are in bad moods and bitching to me about it. I feel like telling them to take their rain clouds and go stand outside a while! I want to be a sympathetic listener for the people I love, but boy! It is hard sometimes to keep positive when loved ones are down.

I think i'm a slow loser but to be quite honest i'm fine with, iim still on 800-900 cal, getting enough Proteins, getting in veg and some fruit, and some days too much carbs (need to work at that) Bowels since surgery a mess, very lazy, i'm still waiting for that lovely diarrhea that people talk about, never happened in 7 weeks though!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
