Hey there i just watched this dateline story about the sleeve and this Dr. does it on an out patient procedure, mostly becuase of the cost. It's a good article.

Welcome and Good Luck! I've never seen anyone mention having the sleeve as an outpatient procedure. You might want to post in the pre-op questions and answers section.

November 30th! Should be an interesting Thanksgiving holiday - family doesn't know about the surgery yet!

I am on my liquid diet right now and am scheduled for surgery, November 3rd, one week from today! :)

The liquid diet is very difficult the first few days but if you can make it through them, you're definitely ready for surgery.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
