:) Hello,

I was banded on the 13th of April 2006. So far I have lost 36 pounds. I just had my first fill one week ago. I am very paranoid about eating. I am afraid that if I eat that the weight will come back. I have been to the nutrition classes and have heard that it won't happen. I guess I have a hard time trusting this band surgery.

if that's your fear, just try to be very portion controlled. almost like pre-band dieting. i have a guy in my support group who has the same fear. it has been 2 yrs and he hasn't added anything beyond cottage cheese and hummus to his diet b/c he doesn't 'believe' the surgery will work. now he's malnourished. it doesn't sound like you're at this point, but don't not eat. there's another thread going today about being too tight http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=19379 in an effort to lose faster. self-destructive behavoiurs will only harm in the long term. bad nutrition. losing muscle, lower metabolism... start reading around the site. there are struggles with the band but you'll prob find that you'll feel fuller and more satisfied if you eat solid food b/c that's what the band is designed to limit. best of luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
