Looking for some insight

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure what insight you are looking for, but I will take a stab at it.

At three weeks, I was just transisioning into real food. I had to set timers to remember to drink and not being able to guzzle a Water bottle made me very frustrated and I worried it would never go away. I would also come on the boards and feel like I was a lazy bum because I was just starting to get energy.

I realized at that point, that I couldn't gauge my experience on anyone elses. (it is hard not to!) There are certainly commonalities we have and ways we can learn from each other, but if I didn't feel as well as someone else or didn't exercise as much, I learned not to beat myself up. I think as overweight people we have a tendency to want to punish ourselves. For this to be a long term lifestyle change I had to flip that around and make it positive. I hope this is some of the insight you were looking for. I hope that things are going really well for you.

All the best,

Anna

Actually that was helpful. I had started to post but then something distracted me and I accidently hit send or post instead of cancel. Couldn't figure out how to delete it. :001_rolleyes: With that bein said your post did provide support and a newer look because I have been feeling a little down. Thanks for taking a stab in the dark!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
