You will do fine! I started my pre-op diet this past Tuesday and the first couple of days were the hardest. I've lost 10 pounds in 6 days so I'm excited to see how much I will lose before surgery. This weekend I went a Mexican restaurant and had Water while my family ate fajitas, chips & queso, etc... I felt very strong for being able to remain focused on my goal. Great results are right around the corner for both of us!

Good luck to you fellow Texan!

Fortunately, my roommates are out of town this week and no cooking in the house. If I keep busy at work I will be ok. I ate at all my favorites to get it out of my system. This will all be so worth it in the end!!!! :001_unsure:

Good Luck! It can make you want to slap someone :blushing: Remember to take your fiber! It is the most important thing! The broth isn't that bad, just had a super huge headache the first 2 day. Good Luck!

Hi Red,

Hope it's going well. First few days were hard for me too. Headaches from detoxing off sugar. The hardest thing for me is giving up Diet Coke. I'm all liquids this week and I broke down and had pizza yesterday for lunch. Back on track now though. I'm have surgery on 8/16 too! I'll look for your updates. Good luck, you can do it!

So far not so bad.... I am 3 days in and have not killed anyone yet. The broth isn't too bad and the shakes are ok. I keep my self super busy and try not to think about food. I have had an awful craving for a Peanut Butter sandwich. The one thing I didn't eat last week... GO FIGURE!!!!

I did all my pre op stuff today. So now I wait for 5 more days.

I am SUPER PROUD and have not cheated yet. Although I really want to!!!

Many blessings to all and THANK YOU for all the encouragement and support!!!!!! :biggrin0:

hi everybody -- how long is the pre-surgery diet, typically? two weeks before surgery? longer?

From what I've read here, everyone is different. I've read where some diets are 2 weeks to just a few days before surgery. At the seminar I attended in June I believe my surgeon said 1 or 2 days, but I will find out for sure next week:thumbup1:.

congrats red! you're going great!

ah, i see. thanks!

from what I've seen a lot of it depends on your BMI -- the higher it is, the longer the pre-op diet. low BMI patients can get away with just a few days, but if you're over 40 it's more like a week.

ah, okay. that's not too bad. what would really suck is if they made us get below a bmi of 40 in order to have surgery.

Good luck! If it makes you feel better, post-op is much easier! I'm waiting for my flight right by this Ghirardelli store and could really care less!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
