I would like to know what your Dr.'s post op diet consists of? Seems like mine is so rushed....I dont understand why some ppl have Clear Liquids, why the post op diets are SO different but we all had the same surgery!?

First 6 weeks: pureed FOODS

BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER

2oz PROTEIN, 2oz Protein, 2oz PROTEIN

1oz fruit, 1oz veg., 1oz starch

WEEKS 7-12

Same as above but NOT pureed.

MONTH 3-6

2oz PROTEIN 2oz PROTEIN 2oz PROTEIN

2 FRUIT 2oz VEG 2oz STARCH

MONTHS 6-9

Same as months 3-6 but add 1 oz protein to each meal.

days after surgery

1-10 clear liquids

11-20 refried Beans, cottage cheese, eggs, & Protein

21-30 chicken, turkey, & fish string cheese

1 mth veggies & other cheeses

4 mths everything (no red meat til 4 mths)

This is their diet for bypass patients though they don't have anything different at this time.

It wasn't hard for me and everything I was eating "felt safe" on my new tummy.

I am just having a really hard time getting in all my calories.. nut told me I am not eating enough.

Mine is similar to Libby's. 10 days of clears, a week of full liquids, mushies for a week to 10 days, then soft foods for as long as necessary. No meats, even pureed, for at least the first 30 days.

Every surgeon is different. Follow your surgeon's advice, unless eating purees that early out is difficult for you. If you start to have heartburn or pain, maybe step back and do liquids for a day or two. But there are other people here that left the hospital on purees, even if they are the minority.

Do what your surgeon says, unless you have an issue.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
