I'm so proud of myself y'all! Yesterday we were passing by a Tommy's after spending the afternoon at the beach and my son and rest of the family really wanted to stop to eat. I knew I couldn't order anything from the menu, but I didn't want to stop my family from eating there. I still need to lose a few pounds before my upcoming pre-op, so I literally sat with everyone and watched as they ate (with the exception of 2 french fries and a few sips of my hubby's diet coke)! I don't think I've ever done that before. Afterwards I got something else to eat and I was happy! Happy that my family was happy and happy that I didn't go off!!! YAY FOR ME:thumbup:!!!

Well done.... its good practice for your pre op diet if you have one.... and does make you feel really virtuous afterwards too.

Way to go!!! I am very impressed with you losing so much weight already!! Im trying to quit old habits and Im doing it one step on a time, such as coffee, pop, carbs, Im hoping soon I will start eating smaller portions... are you on any specific plan right now? Atkins? smaller portions?

We're just weeks apart in our surgeries, looking forward to being on the loser board with you!!

Thank you :laugh0:...I am using the weight watcher point system, and journaling everything (that's the key). I am also making sure to drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast (30 grams of protein).

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
