So on Friday I will be 3 weeks out from having my vsg. I spent way too much time in the sun the other day, got a bad sun burn. I wake up this morning to having to throw up, and I did. now I am worried that I maybe hurt my sleeve from throwing up. Idk if that is possible but i am just worried. I don't even feel like eating today, cause I'm worried i'm just going to throw that up.

any advice? is me throwing up going to hurt my sleeve?

If you are feeling a lot of pain and even if you are just unsure I would call your surgeon. It never hurts to touch base. They will know what the normal range is and what signs you should watch for... Hope you feel better today.

I'd call him just in case but I was sick in hospital due to an adverse drug reaction, It wasn't pleasant but he didn't seem unduly worried about my sleeve.

Make sure if you are going in the sun that you put sunblock on your scars and cover them up as well to minimise long term scarring.

I spent my first five days after surgery in the hospital with constant vomiting (from morphine, it turns out). I was worried when I started vomiting (blood) as soon as I left the recovery room- but I was fine, and nothing bad happened to my sleeve.

If your doc is worried about it he can call in something for nausea too.

I have a pill that goes under the mouth to control nausea.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
