I was told I might need B12 shots as it is the only Vitamin we don't absorb as well so my pcp gave me a shot @ 4 weeks out and it was a energy booster for a few days! Good Luck!!:thumbup1:

I've gotten B12 shots before (pre-op) and had the same experience. I felt GREAT for several weeks. The first week I couldn't even sleep I had so much energy (almost manic) I have talked to people who get b12 and don't feel anything. I think maybe some of us are just super sensitive... or super low to start with. I don't know but I'm glad you reminded me. I'm going to get one.

I just did a little googling and it seems 500-1000mcg daily sublingual is a pretty common reccomendation for all post wls patients... also saw a Q&A where it was stated overdose on B12 is almost impossible and you can't really have too much. Given this is the internet so who knows how accurate that is.... but just following surgeon's requirements!

My doctor told me that B12 is absorbed through the stomach lining, and since I have less of that, I may neet B12 shots. I've compared this to posts from members who take the B12 under the tongue and I'm not sure what to think. I guess I need to research it. Anyway, my doctor did take blood for tests and they all came back in the normal range, so I guess I'm ok.

I was given the option of taking the b-12 sublingual twice a day or doing the injections once a month at home. I chose the injections just so I could cut down on the amount of pills and medications I have to take daily. I went from taking hardly anything a day to Multivitamin and Calcium twice a day. Vitamin D, PPI, and levothyroxin once a day. It was really to much for me. I was so relieved when my surgeon told me I could do the B-12 monthly injections. They are so easy too. It is only a tiny tuberculin needle. It doesn't hurt at all and I can do it to myself. If it is hard for any of you to take a lot of pills I would strongly recommend talking to your doctor about the injections. It was a much better choice for me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
