I have to have my band removed today, it is causing nausea and epigastric pain. I found out friday that today it would come out and have to decide by today if I want the sleeve. I did not lose weight with the band until this year when I realized that I had to diet too. Doh! I have lost 39 lbs this year with the band but for the last 3 weeks I've been nauseous and in pain so out it comes. I don't want to gain anything back but I'm so afraid I will have trouble like I did with the band. I don't want to be rushed into this but I am already having surgery so this would be the time. I have until 9:30 to decide. Wish me luck! Beth

Honestly, the sleeve is completely different than the band. It does what a band is supposed to do without all the b.s. complications, and food restrictions. I'm still never hungry, and have great restriction.

You'll still have to be mindful of what you put in your mouth. You can't suck down milkshakes and ho hos and expect results. But, you can eat Protein first, followed by a few veggies, and see results. Once you get to regular foods and out of the post-op diet stage, you can have a variety of foods, just in smaller portions.

The basics of the sleeve are Protein first and if you have any room, veggies, and last carbs.

I can imagine it's scary to be put in this rushed position, and no one can tell you what is the right thing to do. But, I can tell you that the sleeve is not like the band. Can your surgeon remove the band, and give you a couple of weeks to research the sleeve? I would not have chosen RNY if VSG was not an option for my revision. I would have had my band removed, and stayed fat the rest of my life.

Best wishes, and I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Saw this too late to chime in before you headed to surgery. Let us know what you decided. I also live in WA - if I can offer support, let me know.

I got the band out, but I will have the sleeve in Aug. I would have had to wait another week to get the sleeve, and I was soo sick I just wanted the band out. This is the day after that and I feel great! I am going to be on WW until I get the sleeve so wish me luck. I will be hanging out here though, learn what I need to know. Thanks for your replies! Beth

Stephone, lets keep in touch. I was a band failure and I wish I would have had beeter support. I'm not needy, I'm too indepenant and it would be fun to have a bud. Do you have a date or just sometime in Aug. I'm actually going to see if I could have it sooner. We'll see. Beth

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
