I noticed a few July folks posting on other threads and thought there might be enough of us to start our own thread (rather than hijacking whatever threads we find with a July surgery in them) - so I invite anyone with a July surgery to post their story here so we can support each other and share our experiences.

I'm C and my surgery is scheduled with Dr. Aceves on 15 July. I'm 29 and married to an Army man - we're currently stationed in Germany. We have two year old boy/girl twins. I'm choosing to self-pay because Tricare does not currently cover VSG and none of the overseas military facilities do the procedure at this time. To complicate matters, our next assignment is (as of right now) in Yerevan, Armenia. Getting this surgery in a remote location like Armenia isn't even a possibility. I'm not willing to wait more than two more years for this surgery.

I started my research in the summer of 2008 when my doctor diagnosed me with Type II (I developed gestational diabetes with my twin pregnancy and it stuck around afterward) and suggested the band. After much research I decided the sleeve best suits my needs.

I'm 5'1" (and some change), 240 pounds and I would be happy with any weight under 160 pounds. I haven't weighed less than that in more than ten years and I have been plus-sized since high school.

Please, hop in and share your own stories so I can share this journey with others instead of doing it alone! If I am successful my mom would like to have the surgery, too, but she's very nervous because she has never had surgery before.

Add me to the list! I'm scheduled for July 12 with Dr. Nick Nicholson at Baylor Plano. Aetna PPO just approved today. I started the monthly nutrition classes Feb 23, did the sleep study, and had the psyche interview. Package was submitted on May 27 and approved June 15. Dr. Hick's office offered to have me start the preop diet tomorrow and schedule surgery for June 28. I thought that was just a little too quick! I feel quilty that everything has gone so smooth to this point despite my impatience.

I am also getting sleeved July 12, 2010 but I am getting it at Star Medica Hospital with Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Juarez, Mexico

Hey everyone! I locked in my date yesterday. July 28th I will have my sleeve done!! Just a week or two ago I was saying I wish I could post in the July surgeries thread but I though it wouldn't be until later this year or next year. Now it's only 4 weeks away!! Best wishes to all.

Hi, everyone! I live in Mexico and i will have my surgery here on July 10th, i am soooo nervous. I dont know why, but my doctor gave me a 3 day pre op liquid diet, so right now i am eating normally. Does this sound right?

I am a mom, and sometimes i am nervous about the fact that i want another baby, the doctor told me that it is ok to be pregnant with the sleeve, have you heard something about it?

I totally agreed with Cheri, i am anxious about leaving my girls for some days, and sometimes i want to cry when i think what will happend to them if something happen to me, I have mixed feelings all the time, some days i am so happy with my decison, and sometimes i am afraid...

Anyway, i am getting ready for july 10th, wish me luck!

In my hospital room waiting. So far they have 2 people to surgery and there are 2 of left to go. I am hoping I am next!!!! Hospital is beautiful and everyone is so nice. I was hoping for some alone time with one of the doctors to go over some of my fears but that hasn't happened. So....I guess I will have the surgery and have the questions answered after..... Getting, thirsty, hungry and excited.

LaSaJaTa: Glad to know someone from the boards will be there. I actually gained a few pounds (five) since I turned in my paperwork...oops. So I decided to start my preop on the 1st, hopefully that will get me down below the weight I told them. I'm on day two of low carb, and doing fine and not experiencing any hunger. Just the headache that tells me my body is going into ketosis, which is what Nina told me they want. How are you doing?

I'm starting to worry about stupid thoughts like " what if the surgeon has a hang over from the 4th of July party.....? etc. Anyway, I just want this surgery over with because I can't handle being fat any longer. You are all in my prayers every time I go on and read a new post! I have crazy thoughts also like I hope my Doctor isn't hungover, etc. How can we not. We have not actually met these Doctors ourselves and we are putting our lives in their hands. I am going to Cancun with Dr. Verboonen on the 16th and though I am so excited to start my new life, I am also just a tad nervous as I am sure everyone is.

I am just putting it all in God's hands and what will be will be. That and some positive thinking will see us all through!!!!!
