  1. I am...July 16th is surgical date. Anyone else doing this in July?
  2. South Dakota :: P1011803.jpg picture by originalpossumtrot - Photobucket When at my heaviest I tended to stay home and do nothing. Now that I've lost a bit of weight (about half-way to goal) I'm finding I want to go out and DO things, iow, to LIVE life to it's fullest. Heck, I've even taken up hiking. Pre-weightloss possumtrot would *never* have done that. :thumbup1: This pic. is from a little while back when we took a 4,000 mile vacation out west (I drove to the top of Pike's Peak and earned my tee shirt that says "Real Women Don't Need Guardrails", lol). Man-o-man, it was *fun* after the scary part was over. It was very breezy up top of the peak and I sure was glad to have my old coat with me but it was eye-opening to see how much too big it was! I had to clutch it around me because the wind was blowing up it and I had no protection from the cold. So guess who is getting a new coat this winter? :glare: So for those struggling, keep the faith and keep living life to the fullest. Have a great day all!

weight loss promotes travel : )

We were 14,110 feet up...got a little dizzy from the altitude but drank half a liter of Water and was good to go back down. I had forgotten how much fun I have when I go out and DO things instead of sitting around promoting fat exansion when I was heavier. Still have about 50 lbs to go so Look Out World when I get to goal! I'm planning a trip to China to Celebrate getting to goal weight. ; ) What do y'all plan to do to celebrate getting to goal?
  4. Hi AnitaLou. How are you doing? I've been busy with RL so haven't been on here much.

    Clothes that touch your body

I was getting comments about my weight loss, but when I finally broke down and got more form-fitting clothes the comments became huge compliments. It took me a while to get over a lifetime of worry about fat rolls showing but then I discovered foundation garments which smooth things out (plus help keep skin from sagging).

    July Surgeries

Great tip! I had no idea... I'm close to being 2 months out and have lost 50 lbs. Started this journey in size 24W pants and size 4x tops. Yesterday I bought size 16W pants and 1x tops, so this is definitely working. There are times I feel like I'm not losing enough quickly enough, but then when I look at the stats of 25 lbs/mo. who can deny it's working? Never before would I have been able to do this on my own! Energy is still up (even when I had to start working overnights) and this has been very freeing for me. For the first time in a very long time I feel like I can go out and do things I've always wanted to do/see. It is nice to hear from others who had surgery around the same time. Sleeve-siblings unite!

    Clothes that touch your body

    Oh yes, it is so wonderful when we rediscover our bones! I was laying on my stomach in bed and had to turn on my side because my hip bones were poking into the mattress. It was really nice;
  10. This is the first I've heard of vergito...is anyone else familiar with this procedure? John Husted, M.D. - Weight Loss Surgery procedures including: Gastric Bypass, Lapband, Veritcal Sleeve Gastectomy, Duodenal Switch, Vergito / Ileal Transposition and Bariatric Revision surgeries. Located in San Francisco, John Husted is the doctor fo

    Is my mom jealous :(

Not only does getting sleeved turn OUR lives upside down, but it also does that to others...other folks in my life who have always been smaller than me are now really interested in my weight loss, and I suspect that a lot of it is because they could always say, "well at least possumtrot is bigger than I am"...so what are they going to do or feel when possumtrot is smaller than they are? It's not exactly like having your parents get divorced, but when something you have always counted on suddenly changes (not in your favor) it does impact everyone's world. I sincerely hope you and your mom are able to get past this problem Pronto!

    New territory!!!!!!

Superb! Soon the day will come when you are under 200 at the rate you're going!

    Have you heard about Vergito?

LOL, I've been the proud owner of a VSG for 6 weeks now, so it's not like I'm going to have the vergito procedure...just hadn't heard of it before. The metabolic surgeries are fascinating to me. I'm wondering about studies, efficacy, long-term benefits, side effects, increased risks, etc. How long has vergito been done? Surely there are more than Dr. Husted who do this surgery?

    What a brilliant idea!

What the heck is this now?

You cannot beat yourself up! 25 calories...big deal. It was GOOD stuff, not crap. I think the worry we're going to overeat, the sleeve isn't going to work and here we've gone and had part of our body removed, etc. is all part of that head issue we have to get past. It is okay to have a pickle! I'm not a poster child for how to rock the sleeve as I haven't ramped up the exercise yet (which I really should, but I've always been fairly active) and I eat what I want (although I make sure I'm good on Protein and if I crave some dairy or green veggies I have them as they fit in my new tummy)...which may come to bite me on the bootay later...but it is working for me so far. I guess what I'm getting to is that it is too easy to worry about absolutely everything and beat ourselves up if we miss our mark of perfection. Life is too short for that. ENJOY your triumphs (and being satisfied with a few bites rather than large amounts is a triumph in my book). You're doing great! Keep up the good work!!!

    Reassurance Needed

I've been sleeved for about 6 weeks now and it has been THE best thing I've ever done for myself. Confidence has improved and I feel better about myself on so many levels. Physically I've lost weight, but the best thing is the surge of energy I've experienced. My attitude has been so much sunnier (so much that even my boss commented on it) and I feel like there is not much I cannot tackle. Don't let the turkeys get you down. You are worth it!

    "Suprise" VSG!

Best wishes! It truly has been an amazing journey for me...I hope your journey is even more spectacular!
  20. Sounds like a wonderful plan! I had already set a reward for when I get to goal weight for me to white Water raft on the Colorado River...so could definitely stay a couple of days in Vegas since I'll be in the neighborhood! :001_cool:
  21. Way to go! I had quit weighing myself weekly because I was getting depressed and thought I should have lost more by now. Maybe this is going to be a big mistake, but it is what's working for me and keeping me more positive mentally about what I HAVE accomplished, not what I have NOT accomplished. Good for you on the increased pounds lost. I have a very strong feeling that you are going to be way under that 250 benchmark very soon!
  22. :cool0:Forgot to add...I love and appreciate how positive you are and encouraging...showing the rest of us it WILL happen now that we have this new tool...we can all attain our goals!

What the heck is this now?

Stay strong Globetrotter! Those nasty false hungers can be a downfall but I know you can get past it. My brain has done the same thing to me a few times but so far I have been able to stay the course...I know you can too! It's crazy how this happens, isn't it?

    where are the heavyweights?

I started out wanting to lose 120 lbs, so I'd say that qualifies me in the heavyweight category too. Got soooooo excited to get the bmi out of the morbidly obese category to just regular old obese. Overweight category here I come, lol. My guess is that there are more heavyweights getting this surgery than there are lightweights, although I am happy for the lw's that they are able to "nip it in the bud" before they get to that morbidly obese category!
