Eating 2-3 bites, then ouch!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Is any one out there so filled that they can only eat 2-5 bites of something before it gets so painful in your esophagus that you can't stand it? Then I end up throwing it back up. This has been happening almost daily for about a month now. I have lost about 15-19 lbs., but have great difficulty in not trying to go back after vomitting to try to get some food down.

I am going to try to go back to Protein shakes, bars, and some softer foods to try to heal my esophagus.

Any one else having that trouble? The only way that I can get any food down is to drink hot tea with my meals and even then sometimes it won't work.

Hi Vera.

Hi Barb -

You are on a direct course to slippage. Vomitting everyday for a month is very hard on your band placement.

I recommend an unfill at once to let everything heal and settle - then refill slowly in increments.

Just my best advice based on over a year of reading over four boards with members who have been banded more than four years.

Barb, I agree with Donali. Get at least a slight unfill before you hurt yourself! Vomiting that often is definitely a bad thing.

Let us know how you are, OK?

Hi Barb

I know you worked so hard to find a fill doctor and hes a long drive away.

Just when you think you finaly have restriction, but your too tight.

I have to agree with Donali and Alexandra.

Get a slight un-fill for starters. Til then you may want to stick to fluilds, keep up your Protein.< /p>

Keep up us posted....Been thinking bout U

Thanks girls, I spoke to Sadie (in Monterrey) yesterday and she recommended that I start with fluids, then soft, then try some regular food. She also says if this continues after this week that I should have .3 cc removed. Thanks again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
