Thanks for the well wishes, I've been back at the hotel for a couple of hours now, I wish I could sleep, but I'm having really bad gas pain. Other than that, everything is good, no nausea or dizziness or anything, minor surgical site pain, mostly just a whole lot of gas pain, and my throat being irritated from the tube during surgery, every once in a while I have to cough and that hurts! I have liquid codiene to take, it takes the edge off but still hurting loads. I think they inserted an inflatable beach ball and not a lap band! - For those of you banded who had really bad gas pain coming out surgery, how long did your gas pain last? the lap top in bed and the t.v. on is helping to distract me a bit. Up till today I couldn't wait to have the surgery done with, now I can't wait to be healed! Then... I'll worry about weight loss :grouphug: Dr. Cobourn said everything went really well with the surgery, though my liver was still quite large even though I lost 14lbs on the pre surgery Optifast diet. Thankfully they managed around it anyways.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
