Hey Irishmist!

Who was your surgeon? What have you been doing so far for your liquid diet?

When I was told what to eat during liquids, I was told watered down cottage cheese and very runny oatmeal was ok, so that's what I had. Didn't sound like liquids to me, but I wasn't going to argue!

Breakfast would be oatmeal, lunch and supper would be either cottage cheese or broth. I wasn't a big fan of broths, so sometimes I'd make chicken noodle Soup (lipton), and strain out the noodles.

Boy, that sounds boring... I did that for 2 weeks? Ugg! Must have not been too bad if I can't recall anything else. Oh yeah... I had some Yop's too. :)

One night we went out for a birthday sushi dinner.... my favorite... and I couldn't have any ;) I ordered wonton soup, and ate around all the wontons.

How long do you have to do it? (liquids)

Hello Mandi

Thank you for the quick response, I was banded by Dr.Cobourn a week ago today May 26th.

I like the oatmeal idea, but I dont think so on the cottage cheese, not a big fan of cottage cheese.

I have been having Optifast for breakfast, chicken broth for lunch followed by Jello with liquid yogurt(Yop), and the same for dinner pretty boring. Oh well I made it through 3 weeks of Optifast I will survive one more week of liquids.

;)

Maria

I hear ya Maria; it got boring pretty quickly!!! I just put up with the boring and looked at the bright light!!!

Hey Irishmist, what time was your surgery?

Hello Cloe, i think you were before me, i arrived at 8.15 am you were ready to go, i was sitting with my husband when you came out of the office. Sorry to hear you where having problems, i stayed with a soft diet and have been okay so far. Like the advice you have already been giving i chew my food until there is nothing left.

Hope you doing better now

Irishmist:gluck:

Hi I'm not sure how to get started on here...so I'm going to type in a general question...Is everyone really happy with the lap band? I obsess about food...I'm always thinking of food? Is lap band for me? I'm about 60 pds overweight. How bad are the scars? How many times do u go for fills?

Hey "Phone"!

You should probably start by asking these questions in the General forum http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17 (then click on the New Thread button, type in a 'subject' and ask away!)

Unless you ARE from Canada, and that's why you posted in the Canada area. Check out the general area either way though, you'll find all those questions answered there, or in the other areas like 'LapBand support'.

But yes, I'm happy with the band so far. Lots of people get the band with as much to lose as you have. The scars... I don't think they're bad, but I'm never going to be seen in a bikini, so I could care less. the amount of fills you have varies for everyone. Some people can ride out having NO fill for a long time, and some people need 10, to get to a good spot.

Good luck!

Irishmist - Yes, that was me! My surgery was scheduled for 8:00, I arrived at 7:15. I just hope my husband didn't talk you and everybody else's ear off in the waiting room, he's a great guy, but tends not to shut up once you get him talkin.

phone - Yes, extremely happy. But I've only been banded 18 days. No regrets!!!!

mandi - When are you moving?

jude - Glad to hear you doing good:) !

Thats really exciting, I guess we wont be hearing from you the days while your traveling.

No, probably not. Unless I get lucky and find motels in my price range (cheap!) that have internet connections!

But I won't be bidding you all farwell until Saturday night... and I'll be bugging you again as soon as I get to New Brunswick! :)

Mandi

Well, from Vancouver, and hubby and I have been travelling across the country in an RV for over a month now, decided to turn the lap band trip into an extend travel thing. In the hotel for tonight and the next couple of nights though. I have surgery this morning first thing with Dr. Cobourn. I woke up at 3AM and can't go back to sleep! Hubby and our two pugs are on the other bed totally out of it. Not much longer now!
