I was sleeved by Dr. Alvarez April 9th. I am so glad that I picked him. He was awesome and I have had no issues with my sleeve. I got off of my 2 BP medications 9 days post op and no longer have diabetes. I am down 48 pounds and feeling great. Just follow all of his instructions and you will do great!!

You will be very impressed with Dr. Alvarez. Crossing the border with Rosie is a breeze. Me and my parents felt very safe and relaxed during the whole process from start to finish. I am fortunate that it is only 180 miles from where I live, so it was a very easy drive.

I was sleeved by Dr. Alvarez on May 11 this year, only 3 weeks post-op. I was extremely impressed by him and his staff. He is very professional and the staff was as well. They all make you feel very welcome and comfortable. The hospital is older but the rooms have been up dated, the placed is spotless, the nurses all wear white uniforms, and you have a "personal assistant" so to speak that will interpret for you and anyone that goes with you. I haven't had any issues, at all, everything has gone so smooth and Dr. Alvarez is available by email or phone with anything you may need. He keeps in touch with his patients via email and Facebook, and they have a reunion every year for everyone to get together (Dr. Alvarez is there also).:thumbup1:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
