Complications and struggling

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 5/4/10. During the surgery, while the doctors were stappling my sleeve, they hit my pancreus. As a result, they had to remove part of my pancreus. Needless to say I ended up staying in the hospital 6 days. I went in to my surgeons for a 2 week check up, I am still having quite a bit of pain, just below my rib cage on the left side. Doctor order a CT scan. Today she called and told me I have some Fluid near my drain site, oh and by the way it looks like there may have been some damage to my spleen as well. I really and feeling like I am loosing faith in this doctor. I was a self pay patient, And I do have a supplemental insurance through the office for 90 days, which SHOULD cover cost of additional services.

I am struggling mentally. I just really want to feel good. At this point, I really can not comment on my sleeve because I think it is the one thing internally that may be right. Thanks for listening to me ramble. And Just get a few things off my mind.

Sassie, I am so sorry to hear of your complications. There really isn't anything I can say except I understand how you feel, and I hope you get some relief soon.

With my complications, all I wanted was to feel semi-normal. It's mentally, emotionally and physically draining to deal with surgery, add on complications, and it just makes things even more stressful.

Please know that I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Reach out to us, we'll be here for you. This place was my saving grace during my recovery, and I do not know what I would have done without the friends, support and encouragement from the members of this forum.

Sassie, I'm very sorry you're going through this. Knowing that folks like you are dealing so gracefully with REAL complications makes me embarrassed to be complaining so much about my paltry acid reflux.

I hope you get better soon.

My heart goes out to you Sassie and so will my prayers. Stay connected because having the support of people who are sleeved can be very helpful especially when going through a tough period.

Sassie,

I hope they are able to do the things necessary to make you well. I can't imagine how frustrating. Did you end up going with Cottam or Richards? My friend is trying to decide between the two but Richards told her (this was a few months ago) that she hadn't done sleeves yet so Cottam would be there to oversee her work and this really scared her. Hope all improves very soon.

I am so sorry to hear about your complications. My hubby had a sleeve on the 14th and he too had some complications, (leak) bloodloss, etc. All I can tell you is to hang in there, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Stay strong Sassie! I had complications after surgery (vomiting blood, chest pain, etc.) and ended up staying in the hospital for 5 nights. Once you are over this hurdle, you will be glad you did this!

Oh Sassie..I'm so sorry to hear that!

Are they going to have to go back in to do more repair work or what's the plan of action?

We'll all be praying for you that they get this resolved.

And we're all here for you!!

The pancreas?? Probably about the worst thing they could have bumped! I have heard that is so incredibly painful!! I had an ERCP last August to correct ODDI dysfunction and they kept me over night just incase I got pancreatitis. I was fortunate that I did not.

Hope they are able to help you feel better soon!

I'm 3-weeks post-op from a sleeve by Dr. Richards. So far so good, no complications!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
