-18 pounds in 1 month!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

so i had a three day weekend and monday i went to the dr for a checkup and possible adjustment. when i checked in the nurse gave me a sheet for when you need and adjustment. after reading that i decided YES! i do need one so i had an adjustment. (i will post the info from the sheet my dr gave me. its in the car so maybe this afternoon)

anyhow i got .2 cc's. More than i wanted but i am not the 'expert'. after the fill i got to the FUN part... WEIGHING!!! 1 month ago i got 'restricted' weighing 286 yesterday i weighed in at 268!!! thats a 18 pound loss in 1 month!!!! i did this by ALWAYS choosing protien first, not eating sugar or bad carbs that turn into sugar, drinking 96 oz Water a day and some exercise. i am basically doing the Atkins diet. my dr fully approves of it as a way to maximize your tool to get the weight off but not as a way of life.

so am i to tight??? i dont think so. i couldnt wait for three days to see if i was to tight so i ate some real food. A TINY BIT. no problems and i was full and STAYED FULL!!!! no pb's or slimes! this morning waters going down slowly but fine! ( i was hesitant to post the eating part and dont recommend it but at 8 months out i got the chewing down so i attempted it at my own risk)

Wowie Zowie, child, that's amazing!! Restriction sure makes a difference, no kidding. ;)

It's interesting that you and your doctor decided you needed an adjustment before weighing you. Do you think a different decision would have been made if they knew you'd lost 18 lbs in the past month? Isn't the rate of weight loss on that sheet as an indicator of whether you need an adjustment or not?

At any rate, YOU GO GIRL!! You're doing great. :):D

Thanks Ladies!

alexandra,

my dr's adjustment sheet goes something like this:

after an adjustment you will be either:

a. to loose, you can eat 1/2 - 3/4 cup of food but get hungry 1.5 - 2 hours later (this is where i was)

b. just right, you eat 1/2 cup meals 3 times a day and dont get hungry.

c. to tight, pb'ing, cant keep solids down- get unfilled

i did tell them i thought i had lost roughly 15 pounds in the last month. but being Atkins advocates they know that on 'induction' a non-banded person can lose 15 pounds the first month and its normal.

i was undecided when i went in for the appt. more leaning toward not needing it, but i was snacking all day. thats fine to do on the atkins but... i plan on switching gears on june 1 and doing a sugarbuster type diet so i can eat fruits and whole grains. but if i constantly snack then i may not be so lucky with the loss.

the adjustment was also free since i had the 'mess up fills' and i didnt want to wait till june and decide i wanted another fill and have to pay out-of pocket for it then.

i had 1 scram egg for Breakfast at 10am no problems! it all went down in 15 minutes. i think THIS may officially be my sweet spot! the other fill was semi-sweet.

and thank you too alexandra! i was SHOCKED walking out of there with 3.4 cc ( i wanted 3.3) but so far so good.

Congratulations Michelle! ;) :):D

You are an inspiration to me. You never gave up, even when you thought your band was broken and you lost your insurance coverage.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It helps me to hang in there.

I am having a difficult time right now. I only have one fill at 1cc and don't have any restriction. I can eat 1.5 - 3 cups of food at a sitting, but it does last me about 4 to 4.5 hours. I have actually gained 2 lbs even though I am exercising 3-5 days per week and am eating less than I was pre-band... with all of this, my doc refuses to give me fill # 2 until 6 weeks at 1cc has passed. I have 3 weeks to do and I am afraid of gaining more weight. I refuse to get on the scale and am just trying not to fall back into my favorite activity (grazing) that consumed my life pre-band.

Thanks for listening.

Anne

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
