Came home today from my sleeve surgery. Everything went well. What hurt the most was shoulder pain. That was terrible but is already gone, so only lasted 24 hr for me. Still on Clear Liquids for today, start full liquids tomorrow. Thanks for all your help everyone. I felt so much more prepared after reading all your posts.

At the hospital I did use a light weight robe (knee length), nonslip socks, tooth brush, tooth paste, body lotion, body wash. deodorant. Brought my knitting but didn't really do much. The pain meds made me kind of loopy, family were lovingly making fun at that. Didn't get much sleep, so came home and slept 3 yrs. Everyone was wonderful, and very knowledgeable. So far so good.

Will post more later.

Good for you. Welcome to the losers bench. so glad your procedure went so well.

Robbiehage, you are doing incredible, I can only hope that I "work my sleeve" like you!

The doc's office is supposed to call me tomorrow to set my date!

Feeling better today, can tell that the pain is less and no fever today. They gave me a pneumonia vaccine before discharge because I am over 50, and I had chills and fever up to 100. for the past 2 days. Never got up to the dreaded 101 so all is well. I really think the chills and fever were due to the vaccine. Anyway, I can tell I have turned the corner so to speak with the surgical pain. Yea!! Go in on Tuesday to get the drain pulled. That will be great. So excited to be moving forward. Thanks for all the encouragement.

Glad to hear that you've rounded the corner, those first few days are the toughest. Keep on sipping, walking, and resting.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
