I dont understand how the body doesnt lose weight being in the liquid stage. I am on liquids for 4 weeks. I would think that I would be losing weight. But then I see all the comments that people gain, or maintain until they get a fill. :help: I dont understand. I must be missing some part of the equation. LOL

I lost weight on the liquid stage. I was on it for 10 days pre-op and lost 10 pounds. After surgery I was on Clear Liquids for 4 days and then full liquids for another 10 days and lost another 5 pounds.

I would say that it has to do with what type of liquids you are drinking and how much. I would have 1 slim fast at each meal and then just have diet drinks in between. I was really trying hard to shrink my liver.

Good luck!

I think most people do lose weight on the liquid phase, I think it's the mushie phase where people tend to gain.

I would think that if you choose good/healthy liquids with Protein and you should be able to see some weight loss. I was on liquids for 2 weeks and I lost 10 lbs as well.

Maybe adding some exercise will help kickstart your metabolism? Best of luck!

:) Kristin

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
