I had my first last Thursday. The surgeon palpated the port and then cleaned it. Next, he injected some lidocaine to numb the area and then assembled the materials he needed to access the port. I felt less pain than a fingerstick from the lidocaine and NO PAIN at all from the needle that went into the port. Afterwards, I drank 4 oz of Water and that was it.

The post fill diet for me was 2 days of full liquids and 2 days of soft foods followed by a regular diet. I was told it could take 1-2 weeks before I "felt" the restriction. So far, I feel the same as I did before I went for the fill. Fills are a piece of cake!

This is how I feel, eveyone is different.

How do they feel? just a pinch, not painful.

How do you feel after? fine, like normal.

How is it done? they find your port, some wing it some do it under fluro, they fill a syringe with Fluid and doink! your done.

Are you sick or in pain like right after surgery? no, not sick at all, you feel normal.

What is your diet after your fill? Liquids for 3 days.

Had my first fill yesterday. Once the doc found the port it was pretty easy. I did notice a slight popping sound/feeling when the needle acessed the port. The whole thing was over in like 10 minutes. No biggie really and I'm a wuss when it comes to needles!

How do they feel? Like a needle going in. I opt for NO numbing, and my port is centered just below my breastbone.

How do you feel after? Just like I did before.

How is it done? Palpatate until the port is found, drop the needle into the port, push the saline in, pull the needle out.

Are you sick or in pain like right after surgery? Nope. (See previous answer to "how do you feel after?")

What is your diet after your fill? liquid for days? Mushies? Mushies for the duration of the day, normal eating the next.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
