Help! Is this normal

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 days postop and this is the strangest feeling. was like this from the beginning and i thought it would have gone away by now. the only incision that is sore is the port site. i take that back...the incision is fine..... the feeling is from the port itself....its the strangest feeling....not really pain, but it feels like the port is "loose". when i walk, i have to hold my right side with either the pillow or with my hand. like i have to put pressure on it. it's hard to explain....just strange. anyone experience anything like this?

I would call and tell them. You never know what they could say it is. This is a major thing and it is obviously concerning you so you should call. Good luck and let us know.

You know not to worry you but I got that feeling about 2months after and I went to a near by speacilist and my port has come loose and I have not yet had it re attached he said it would be ok because there is one stitch in it still but eventually I will have it re tacked down..There is alot of soreness and tenderness often, daily.. But my mom had it the same day and she was really sore for about a month or so.. Good Luck!

I am 6 weeks post-op and my port site was tender and hurt when I walked or drove over bumps, etc... until 4 weeks post-op.

My port felt like this mainly because I was a dummy that night in the hosptial and tried to roll over...I yanked it all but good.

What I did was to get one of those girdle things that goes around your middle? Like a tube top only lower? Yeah, I got one of those and wore it at night (couldn't wear it in the day cuz it rolled up at the bottom). But it gave me good pressure on the muscle at night and really helped.

My .02 but I really agree with the others...you should talk to the doc. NEVER hesitate to call the doc!!!!!

wow..just stopped in before going to bed and i cant believe all the replies... i have a doc appt at 130 tomorrow, so will hopefully find out whats going on. Ill let you know. I did "try to roll over" on the night i came home from the hospital and that was definitely a no-no! the girdle thingie sounds like a good idea! I must admit that it did feel somewhat better today. thanks for all the support guys!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
