5 days post-op & have questions...

Recommended Posts

Hi all...

I had surgery Monday. I've been sleeping constantly but feeling better every day (aside from starting my period yesterday, ugh!). I have a couple of question, though:

My stomach is constantly LOUD...growling, gurgling, etc. Does that stop? It's growling like I'm starving (which I haven't eaten in forever so I probably am). I've taken Gas-X strips which help for an hour or so but then I feel the gas again.

When I drink too much too fast I get a severe pain (when I had the band I could drink more as long as I wasn't eating). Is this just because I'm so fresh out of surgery? Do you feel the same way months after with liquid?

I'm dizzy a lot and light headed. I'm hoping when I start full liquids this will go away. Any suggestions?

Finally...I haven't lost a single pound. I know I'm bloated AND I'm on my period...AND I probably shouldn't be weighing myself...but surgery 5 days ago and not a single pound down?!

Thanks for your responses and help.

I gained a lot of weight from the IV fluids but it did finally go away. When I was five days out, I couldn't drink Water without having gas pains. Now I can take a couple of gulps and I am two months out.

Hope you feel better soon.

I gained weight after surgery... IV fluids. I am 17 days out and don't really have to "sip", but still can't "gulp". I feel really good, better every day. I started feeling better around day five, the gas was gone for me by end of week one...haven't has any gas x since!

My stomach stopped making those crazy noises about 2.5 months out, but it got less and less and now is fine.

I am 3 months out and still feel some pain if I drink too much or too fast.

No idea on the dizziness, make sure you are getting enough liquids and rest.

Every month I have stopped losing the week before and the week of my period.

Just quick answers, but I wish you all the best! Take care!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
