I am hoping to get a June date... have done 2 of 3 nutritionist appts., my psych. eval, and my seminar. I was eating everything in sight... my attitude was I might as well enjoy this... I may never get it again.

Well the seminar was the changing point for me... dh went with me and suggested we start tracking our food (he isn't overweight, but very supportive).

I downloaded an ap for my Iphone, Fat Secret Calorie Counter, and began. I promised myself that I would track everything, no matter how bad it was. Just the accountability of putting it down has been life changing. I have stopped eating everything in sight and have actually lost a few pounds.

I recommend just keeping track.. record everything that goes in your mouth. It seems to help. :thumbup1:

I used Myfitnesspal . com pre-op and still use it now. I find it to be very easy and it has every food in the database that I eat.

I think it's normal to want to have that "last supper". I imagine that many people do it. Just search and you'll find lots of posts. food has been part of our lives for a long time or we wouldn't be here research WLS. Why not plan a couple of meals to Celebrate your upcoming surgery, then let it go. In my case, I was very lucky. Kaiser gave me a surgery goal weight and I had to reach it before I could get a surgery date. I was so lucky to have surgery within two weeks of getting the date because I knew that if I was over 230 they would send me home and not operate. I'm a very slow loser so I knew I had to really toe the line and not have last suppers.

It sounds like you have a lot of support at home. Use the support and make this a fun family adventure leading up to surgery. You won't be able to eat your way through your Sleeve. It will stop you dead on if you just stick to eating Protein first. You'll be full and won't be able to stuff in anything else. My plan calls for eating 3x a day with no Snacks so I really strive to get in that Protein.< /strong>

Good luck!!

I am so with you in this one!! Frustrating!! I need to be losing weight=adding more pressure!! And I'm afraid of what I cannot eat anymore. I'm in the 3rd month of my 6 nutritional counseling months. Told her I think it is adding to the pressure=eating more! I made myself go to the gym today and yesterday...trying to do something.

If I could "turn it off" I wouldn't need surgery!! :thumbup1:

Count me in on this one too! It's been about the last month that I got out of control - oh lord the soda drinking has been outrageous and that's my biggest food problem. I've been trying to slow it down the last couple of days and starting to feel some control coming back.

It doesn't feel like a last supper thing for me because I've read enough posts from others who eat normally down the road after being sleeved. I feel pretty ok that I'll be able to eat many of my favorites - especially after reading Tiffy say she can eat ribs! Yay! I LOVE me some BBQ ribs.:wink0:

I think I"ve just been overly stressed from work and family stuff and it's taking it's toll on me. Logging on here is a big stress reliever for me right now and I haven't been able too log on as much as I've wanted to for the past few weeks. Now that some things are leveling off for me in terms of stress inducers, I hope to get an exercise routine going and just start there. Maybe then I won't have to stress AS MUCH about what I'm putting in my mouth. I just need to maintain for two more months. They'll have to roll me to the psych ward if my surgery is cancelled because I gained weight. :sad0:

food funerals are pretty normal during the pre-op stages. Just be aware that there is a member here that had her surgery date, went on a major food funeral then her BP spiked super high, and her surgery was postponed until they could her BP under control.

I promise that once you are off the post-op "letting your new baby tummy heal" diet, you will be able to eat anything you want. Of course, it will be smaller portions, but you aren't going to be restricted. Some things make take longer for you to be able to tolerate, but you'll get to have your favorites again at some point. The sleeve, especially early on, really does help you beat those cravings, and desire to eat huge amounts of food. I didn't believe the veterans until I went through it myself. The sleeve really does help us, the tiny portions really do satisfy us, and there will be challenges/speed bumps, but the victories and hooray moments definitely outweigh them.

Just seconding what Tiff said. I came to her in a panic about the same issue and I used the phrase, "but I'll never be able to eat (insert faves here) again." She called me on that one quickly, I am still in mushie phase and am so protective of my new sleeve that I haven't cheated at all. But pre op I really struggled. One thing I would remember is anything you gain now, will put you that much further from your ultimate goal. I also put a picture of a liver retractor on my computer as the screen saver to remind me what my short term goal was, a healthy surgical outcome. Good luck, you really can do this.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
