Just got banded on 5-24-06

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am a newly banded girl! Your comments have helped me already on this journey. I have been home for 3 days now and am starting to feel better. I also had a hernia repaired on the same day, so I assume the extra surgical site sets me back slightly pain and recovery wise. Cant complain though! I did have one question. I lost 20 lbs on the pre-surgery diet, but have apparently GAINED 5 pounds since coming back from the hospital. Since I am eating pitiful amounts of puree, I am assuming this gain is about Fluid and bloat. Have any of you encountered this? Its a real kick in the head! Thanks again for such a great site!

I didn't experience the post-op weight gain julesings, but I've read about it here on LBT lots of times. liquids and bloat. Drink lots of Water and hopefully it will come back off in no time.

Welcome to LapBandTalk! Good luck with your weight loss journey.

Hi Jules-

I was banded on 4/10/06 and I too had a few pounds of post op weight gain 2-3 days after surgery. I attributed it to the many bags of iv's I had during surgery and until I went home. Do not fret-I lost that weight and am continuing to lose.

Just rest and heal now,

Jess

I was banded 5/23....the first thing I did was weigh myself when I came home only to see I had gained 6 lbs! Now, I am at my one week anniversary and down 9lbs.....so for me....it was just bloat and gas...

Hope you see some good results too!

smiles...diane

Thanks ladies! Im now dropping that weight. Phew! I attribute it to the many bags of fluids they kept pumping into me. I seem to be on the way down (in a good way) now.

Hi julesings ~ Welcome to LBT!! I was banded on 5-26 and gained 5 lbs in the hospital. That is now gone along with 2.5 more lbs. Definitely all the fluids. Be thankful you didn't have green pee like me. I was beginning to feel like a loner on that one until Myra told me the name of it.....they use a dye during surgery. :phanvan

Here's to losing many pounds and I hope you post often.

I have lost 8 pounds since surgery. I had mine on 5/22/06. I hope I continue at this rate. I only have another 135 to go, so at this rate maybe what 14 months. lol. I am really happy that I lost 8 for now. I just have no appertite at all. I am afraid I may even be undereating. So off I go for another few ounces of Soup.

ciao,

Donna

hello all!!

I was banded on May22nd2006, so all this is new forme. I got sick of chicken and beef brith so I started with french onion Soup no chhese or bread and wow it taste much better. My doc said only clear fluids for the first 3 weeks!! There are times I am so huingry and actually I have been spitting up tonite cause I ate ritz crackers and now feel like heavy chest pain. I get sick of sugar free Jello and ice pops all the time!! Doc said I can eat real foods on June12th. Seems so far away anyhow on my home scale I lost 9lbs but at the docs I only lost 5lbs and to me not eating anything but liquids well I feel frustrated.

Well I wish everyone good luck and am open to new ideas!!

Cheryl

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
