Scrambled eggs were not what I expected

Recommended Posts

Does this hold true for eggbeaters as well as real whole eggs? Due to be sleeved on 3/18 and I was already looking forward to my fat free eggbeaters. (And I haven't even had surgery yet!)

I am craving egg. I was thinking soft boiled might be the way to go, at least at first. Yesterday was my first day on mushy foods. I ate about 1-2 tsp of mashed potatoes (yes, they were buttery), and 1-2 tsp of applesauce. I was satisfied, but put my left overs in the frig for today. I tried them again this evening. Same amount eaten. My hubby tried to use the blender to give me some chicken, but he added too much broth. The result was a very brothy mix with itty bitty pieces of chicken. It tasted soooo good, but after two or three sips, I threw up the whole mess. It still had a good flavor on the way out. It probably never made it to the bottom of my sleeve. I'm determined to eat some of the chicken. I'm have a lot of trouble getting enough Protein. I can't eat but a few spoonfulls of food or 1/4 c of Protein Drinks. All my literature some how leaves out the amount of protein that I should be eating on week 4. I'm tempted to try a tortilla with egg. There's that egg again. I guess I just miss the taste. My sis suggested that I try tortilla strips to eat some of the mushy foods from (sort of like a dip). Anyone tried that? I'm so jealous that some of you all can eat real foods just a few weeks out. My doctor seems to think I am doing fine. I had blood work, and I'm not dehydrated, but I did contract Colitis. Bummer, huh?

Re: Loser

I get a lot of air in my sleeve. Eat, burp. Drink, pain, then burp. I wonder if this is my life from now on. Burp.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
