Thanks for all of your feedback, guys....it's really helping me make a life-changing decision.

For those of you who have had surgery, would you characterize your life overall as pretty easy to live after surgery? Does it really take up a lot of your time and energy? (Both mental and physical?) Or are you just able to live a normal life, just a healthier version? Any thoughts?

The best word that I can use is "effortless". My life super normal other than eating smaller portions than most people.

During my weight loss stage, I was more conscious on my calorie, carb, and Protein counts. But, now it's just normal.

Andreanoelle -

I, like Tiffany, am an EXCELLENT dieter, but could never maintain weight loss. Eventually, I would get hungry and eat something I shouldn't. One bad day would lead to the next, and eventually off the diet and back to gaining weight. Now, post op, I still track what I eat. I need the accountability to myself. It is keeping me focused on my GOAL. I can still cheat occasionally and don't have guilt from it because I can't eat enough of it to add up. For example, on my absolute WORST post-sleeve calorie day, I consumed 1450 calories (and 450-500 calories of it was alcoholic beverages). A "bad" day on the sleeve is a pretty good day on my previous diets. Because of that, I stay focused on tracking because I'm still focused on losing weight. I can see in my near future where I relax a bit, and begin to maintain. I am so excited about my sleeve and it giving me the ability to control portions and maintain.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
