I am positively going for the sleeve. I am going for the informational seminar at Temple on this Sat then one at U of Penn Mon night and already have an appt set at U of Penn for Feb 3. Went to Bryn Mawr he was terrible, didn't like him(just my opinion). I'm looking mainly at U of Penn because its closer than Temple but time will tell. I don't know who my Dr will be yet, but I'm hoping they help me fight for the sleeve instead of RNY with the insurance company. If not, I will be going to Mexico. I WILL NOT have anything but VSG.

How about you have you checked with the ins again and what have you decided?

That's awesome - I've heard that if you and your doctor keep fighting for it they might do it. Not necessarily the doctor, but the nurses and other accounting people in the office. It seems that what we get when we call isn't what they get when they call - which may have been why I was told it was approved.

As for my journey, It's been slow :sad0: - Just really busy at work but things are slowing down and I'm ready to get in gear again! I love your positive attitude and have decided to try it anyway. However, if after fighting the battle for some time and I can't get the sleeve, my last resort would be the DS (the second part of the Sleeve). I would love to go to Mexico, but I just can't afford it :biggrin2:

Anyway, keep me posted - I've been calling different places and Abington is friendly but they seem to never get approved for sleeve (even though they do a lot of them). I like that uPenn & Temple are close, I just don't like the fact that they have a lot of students there. And thanks for giving me the heads up on Bryn Mawr - that WOULD have been my next stop :laugh0:

Good luck - let me know how your seminars go. Maybe I'll see you at one of them some day.

Tina

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
