Why would anyone have a problem with anything he said?!?! He was 100% RIGHT.

Because they are misinformed dolts with attitudes.

Have you read some of the posts on this site? There are still thousands that think the lapband is a quick fix and in denial that they will have to do anything to lose the weight.

People should have to read a post like this over and over and over to make them eligible for surgery.

I still am curious as Hell as to how the original poster is doing today.

I've said it over and over again - I would not recommend this surgery to everyone.

I think the screening process needs to be a little "tougher" too - those with food issues will have a harder time than those without (and yes, I am overweight WITHOUT food issues)

Because there are a lot of pple here who think the band is going to do all the work - they don't want to take responsiblity for their eating..

I know you all have read these post ---

" I'm 3 days out suppose to be on liquid ate but ate pizza" - or "I'm not losing 5 lbs a week" - "Oh I don't think the band is working for me - but oh ya I had Cookies last night and the night before"..

I think TV & Doc's do sell some pple a bill of goods - Oh the band is going to take your hunger away - As we all know it does nothing for head hunger and that's the majority of our problems...

I think pple should be told up front 75% of the work is up to you and the band will do the other 25%

Take a look at the statistics - this is why the majority of the pple banded lose 50-60% of their excess weight.. They don't choose to do the work to get 100% of it off.

Hmmmm I think we are all on the same page and agree with what he said. Thanks Paul for speaking up and saying it for us.

Love this post! I agree too, and I also agree with the comment that people should read and re-read and RE-re-read this before getting banded.

Oh, and Wendy.... Think of your insurance-required diet plan as a time to 'practice' before getting banded. I used the time between January (when I started that plan) and June (when I got banded) to get a handle on portions, to get used to the higher Protein intake, and to ease into a more regular exercise program.

I went into surgery already 44 pounds down from when I started and I am SO glad I did it, even though it wasn't always easy, and I floundered more than once.

Doing so also made the adjustment to being banded just a small transition instead of a huge one.

Play their game, but play it to WIN! ;D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
