I had my sleeve done on Monday and went home Tuesday night. When I woke up from surgery I was in severe pain from the surgery and the gas. I felt the gas trapped in my chest. However, it's a little better but I am scared to drink a lot. I had an upper GI done the morning before I left and they had my sipping and swallowing and I felt horrible. I felt it trapped in my chest. I have been having a hard time eating because I do not eat Soup or broth. The only thing I ate in the hospital was a sugar free popsicle. I am trying to stay hydrated. Any suggestions. I am also still fighting with the gas.

Walk, walk, walk, and some people swear that a heating pad laid over the areas where the gas is trapped helps.

Celestial season herbal caffeine free tea is great. I drank a lot of it during the clear liquid phase, and it counts as a clear.

sugar-free Jello

Crystal Light or Special K Protein Water packets mixed with Water.< /span>

The more you walk, the more the gas will move out of your body. I had gas trapped under my left collarbone. The only thing that helped is I would stretch my arms high above my head, and then wrap them over my head, and bend from side to side.

Keep up with your Fluid intake. You do not want to end up dehydrated.

I also had major problems drinking. I was actually kept in the hospital another night because i couldn't take in the fluids necessary to stay hydrated. Once home, I went through tons of sf popicles. It was about the only thing that I could handle the first 3 -4 days. Crystal lite was to sweet, plus to me it was annoying to only sip. I also would drink caffeine free tea mainly in the morning. couldn't stand Decaf coffee.

SF popicles was my best friend for days.

I did the heat pad thing but walking really was the best.

Good luck!

Thanks for your responses. SF popsicles have definitely become my best friend. They sent me home with liquid lortab for pain and the only way I can tolerate drinking it is with a popsicle. Decaf tea has become my best friend as well. Trying to get in enough Water as I tend to have the dry mouth throughout the night. I keep water beside my bed.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
