surgery - just under 3 wks ago

Hi ya everyone

Im new to this site and have been reading the threads for a while now but this is my first post. Yey me lol.

Well I live in the UK and had my sleeve done two weeks and 6 days ago and have so far lost:

Pre op diet: - 11lbs

week 1: - 8lbs

week 2: - 4lbs

week 3: Il let you know on Wednesday when I weigh in

The thing is I was advised by my doctors after 10 days, to introduce mushy food, which is fine and Im trying to get to grips with eating what looks blooming awfull. lol I worried that I might be eating too much? Im trying to start with 1 mushy meal a day and work my way up.

I have a Protein Shake for Breakfast 200mls = 189 cals and 24.8g Protein lunch would be another protein shake/ yoghurt. For dinner Ive been eating around 1/3 of a cup of mushy food! Any more and I think I would feel uncomfortable, as even 1/3 is pushing it, so I dont finish it all.

Does this seem too much you you guys and gals? I seem to be ok with drinking Water / tea / Soup and Protein shakes but I think the food will take me a bit longer.

My calories are around 600 -700 a day and between 50 - 70 grams of protein.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks in advance

Piglet

Welcome to this board. I do hope you will continue to post your concerns and progress. Keep up the good work, you are doing very well. You are also fortunate not to have issues with Protein Shakes, and drinking Water as many of us do.

From what I understand reading the forums, your right on target - 600 - 800 calories a day and 50 - 70 grams of Protein. . . Water is very important (stay away from cheese!) walking and exercise is as important too! Keep up the great work, your doing good so far!!!!

Thanks everyone for your replies as I was starting to get worried.

I think its just because everything is still so new and I dont want to make any mistakes (I know it sounds silly), but I just think Ive come this far and I dont want to ruin my seconds chance, so to speak.

Thanks again.

Piglet you are doing great. Just listen to your body/new-tiny-tummy. If it feels full, stop no matter what you have eaten. I had a bite of something the other day and went, um-no. Just did not eat any more of it. I still love my Soups. and there is always cottage cheeze if you are eating out. I haven't started ordering anything for myself yet. I just eat some of what ever my husband gets. I drink the Protein when we get home. Keep posting and good job!

Piglet- Welcome and congratulations!!

Sounds like you're doing GREAT! Everyone is soooo different. I was one of the ones that couldn't eat right away- vomited alot. But could drink Protein Drinks ( and still do at 9 months out)

Just get in your water- very important! And gradually you will get in all your proetein needs.

sounds like you're off to a great start!

Welcome to the losers side!

Hi Piglet,

I'm 1 week out of surgery and eating does not appear to give me any problems other than burping lots, I have 100ml really runny porridge for Breakfast, 150ml skimmed milk latte mid morning, lunch today was 100ml lentil & ham & veg Soup well liquidised, I will have another 150ml skimmed milk latte mid afternoon then probably mashed potato with liquidised beef & veg with lots of gravy probably 100mls then supper will be yoghurt or fromage frais fat free of course. I am a bit worried that I am finding it all too easy as I don't really have any discomfort at all. the hospital tried to feed me mashed potato & gravy on day 3 !!!! but another patient told me not to eat it as It was too soon.

I had my surgery done in Newcastle where were you done ?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
